The Bunker Interpretive Center (BIC) is located in the Calvin Ecosystem Preserve & Native Gardens in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The LEED certified building is our primary educational facility for the general public and the 麻豆区 community.

The BIC provides approximately 5,000 square feet of space which serves as a home base for programs, a study center for the university community, and an educational resource for the general public. Included in that space are a laboratory classroom, a multipurpose room, and a display hall. 

Throughout the year, we offer a variety of events and educational programs for all ages in the BIC. Please visit the programs & events page to see our current schedule.

Looking for a space to hold your special event? 

The Bunker Interpretive Center (BIC) is ideal for corporate board or department meetings, church or family gatherings, baby or wedding showers.

  • The Discovery Room is a multipurpose space for groups between 30-50 people depending on room set up. 
  • The lab has fixed tables is ideal as a work or group project space for less than 24 people.
  • The display hallway houses permanent and temporary displays to help visitors better understand the flora and fauna of the Great Lakes region.
  • Venema Plaza is available for an outdoor meeting or reception space.
  • Enjoy over 2 miles of trails during your event.

Cars may park in the cul-de-sac parking lot at the main entrance to the preserve as well as the designated Ecosystem Preserve spaces immediately north of our parking lot.
