“DeMille’s film was really a Cold War film and at the beginning of the film he comes out from behind the curtain, stands on a stage and announces that this is the story of the birth of freedom.”

Communication arts and sciences professor Bill Romanowski about why so many movies based on the Bible are being released and how these movies reflect the political anxieties of their times, much like did back in 1956.
