Calvin College will host a variety of events in february as part of Black History Month. More details will be added to this page as they become available.

February 5 - A workshop called "Who Needs Black History Month?" More details to come.
February 9 - A Showing of the film On Tiptoe: Gentle Steps to Freedom (in preparation for the Ladysmith Black Mambazo concert). Showtime is 8:30 pm in the Commons Lecture Hall and the film is free and open to all.
February 12 - Ladysmith Black Mambazo in concert. Concert begins at 8 pm in the Calvin Fine Arts Center. Tickets are $5 with Calvin ID or $18 without. February 13 - Comedian Rodney Johnson at 8 pm in the Cave Cafe in a free show.
February 16 - A lecture by Dr. Omar McRoberts, an assistant professor of sociology at Chicago, at 3:30 pm in the Commons Lecture Hall. Topic of the talk is "Black Religion and the Moral Politics of the New Deal" and in it McRoberts will present preliminary findings from a study on black denominational interaction with the federal government between the Great Depression and the contemporary Welfare Reform era.
February 19 - Showing of The House We Live In, a PBS series, at 3:30 pm in the Meeter Center Lecture Hall. Free and open to all.
February 24 - Legends of Jazz at 7 pm in the Fine Arts Center.
February 25 - John Bell, Stories of the Buffalo Soliders, at 7 pm in the Commons Lecture Hall.
