Calvin's annual Siblings Weekend—for siblings, cousins, young friends, and other future Knights!

Siblings Weekend is a tradition at Âé¶¹Çø where current students welcome siblings (college-aged or younger) or those whom they "love like a sibling" (e.g. cousins, etc.) to participate in a weekend of laughter, activities, friendship and the creation of great memories.

Of course, siblings can visit anytime, but Siblings Weekend is geared for school-aged guests and features a number of special events and activities!

Activities

  • Ice Cream Social (Friday 6-8pm, Hekman Library/Commons Union lobby (near Peet's Coffee)
  • Craft time (Friday 6-8pm, Hekman Library/Commons Union lobby (near Peet's Coffee)
  • Calvin Improv (Friday 7-8:15pm, CFAC Recital Hall)
    • SECOND SHOW ADDED!  9:30-10:45pm, Hekman Library basement stage!!!
  • Symphonic Band Concert (Friday, 7:30pm, CFAC Auditorium)
  • Movie: "Moana 2" (Friday 8:30pm, CFAC Recital Hall)
  • Free "Pancake Party" breakfast (Saturday 9-10am, Hekman Library/Commons Union lobby (near Peet's Coffee))
    • (Pancakes and juice only)
  • "Nature Kids" program (9-10:30am, Ecosystem Preserve) - Separate Free Registration HERE
  • Tie-Dye Party (Saturday 10-Noon, Spoelhof University Center lower level - Art Department)
  • Ecosystem Preserve Craft Time (Saturday 12:30-2:30pm at the Bunker Interpretive Center)
    • Paint a pot/seed scavenger hunt, still-life drawing, make a pamphlet-stitch journal!
  • Movie: "Moana 2" (Saturday 2pm, CFAC Recital Hall)
  • Climbing Wall (various times Friday and Saturday)
    • Reservation link provided after registering for Siblings Weekend)
  • Calvin Athletics (Saturday various times -- all events Free or included with registration)
    • MIAA Swim and Dive Championship - all day
    • Men's Tennis (1-3 pm) and Women's Tennis (3-5), Strikwerda Tennis Courts (indoor))
    • Women's Lacrosse (1-3pm, Soccer Stadium (outdoor))
    • Men's Basketball (3-5pm, VanNoord Arena)
  • SAO Concert:  Hulvey w/ nobigdyl (Saturday 8pm; tickets purchased separately)
  • Open gym and fitness center (various times;  no open pool due to MIAA swimming championships)
  • Residence Hall hanging out... (Saturday evening)

Registration

Registration is open through Feb. 19, 2025.

Register online to receive an official Siblings Weekend t-shirt (adult sizes S, M, L, XL, suitable for Tie-Dyeing!) and a personalized Siblings Weekend ID card for free access to any/all of the Siblings Weekend events** for $20 per person. In addition, individual meals can be purchased (optionally) for $9 each (Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast, lunch or dinner) or Calvin student can use their meal plan swipes to pay for guests. (**SAO Concert tickets are sold separately.)  Note: Optional free pancake breakfast on Saturday morning, 9-10am, sponsored by Alumni and Family Engagement, in the Hekman Library/Commons Union lobby (near Peet's Coffee).

Late Registration: Late/onsite registration is available in the Student Life Office on February 20-21 for an increased rate of $25 per person (and $10 optional meal tickets). Onsite registration includes a non-personalized ID card. T-shirt sizes may be limited.  Pay with a credit card.

Housing

Siblings 12 and under are welcome to stay in their Calvin host's room on campus regardless of gender, while older guests should have arrangements to stay in a same gender room (e.g. which might be with their host, or with a friend of their host, accordingly). Guests are subject to the same behavioral expectations as Calvin students, with desired curfews (and bedtimes!) the responsibility of the Calvin student host.

Billing Options

Siblings Weekend online registration requires a credit card as a form of payment. American Express, Visa, Master Card, and Discover Card.

Refund Policy

Except for extenuating emergency situations, registration fees are only refundable up to 7 days prior to the event. If you have any questions, please call the Student Life Office at (616) 526-6948 or email siblings-weekend@calvin.edu.

Confirmation

Upon completing the online registration process you will receive a receipt and a confirmation email. The week of the event you will also receive a reminder email with the confirmed schedule of events and information about packet and t-shirt pick-up.

*Note about Climbing Wall: Due to limited slots available, pre-event sign-ups will be available through a Sign-up Genius links, sent in the confirmation email. Climbers must be 8 or older, and a Safety Waiver signed by Parent/Guardian is required for climbers under 18.)
